its sunday now. what should be the end of unfinished business week, but sometime yesterday i realized that this is kind of an unfinished business summer. so this week will continue for a while. i finally finished my 1835mm dvd. it has listen, hat hair, swf, dad, and superfluous man on it, plus a bonus easter egg movie. its the first 'fancy' dvd ive made, and it turned out pretty well i think. once i make some more copies ill start handing them out.

i got to play soccer yesterday and today in a 5 on 5 tourney in oak park. it was pretty fun. i scored two goals yesterday and two today. yesterday we lost 3-4, and got 3 red cards (all for talking to the ref). the ref was on a total power trip. he tried to throw one of our guys off of the fields, but the guy wouldnt leave, so he called the game with 4 minutes left. all because the guy got in an argument with him about a call. there was no violence, not even any swearing. it was really stupid. they had two pks, one was legit, the other one was because a guy on our team slid to block a shot, and since sliding is illegal, that somehow translated into a penalty kick.

our captain talked to the tournament director and worked it out so our red carded players could play today. we ended up winning 5-2, but we didnt move on. this is tourning out to be a big soccer weekend. im going to the united states vs. poland match tonight. its a double header followed by a chicago fire game. it should be awesome. sobel called me up and asked me out on a hot date to soldier field and i couldnt turn it down. he said we are sitting in the 9th row, which should be sweet. almost as sweet as the fact that the tickets are free. i gtg warm up for the game by eating a bunch of enchiladas (thanks mom). when i get back, will, dave, xtina and i are finishing off the evil dead trilogy with army of darkness. and hopefully later tonight ill finally get to talk to that blue dolphin ring girl...

i cant really catch up on whats happened in the last week. too much to type. ill summarize
rented - city of god, evil dead, starsky and hutch, along came polly, you got served, and some others i cant remember...
blockbuster celebrities - that girl from poetry class, jack from hat hair (twice), joel, quinn, tomko, plus some others.

i met a man who comes in all the time who actually is a professor of film studies at loyola. hes written a few books on coppola, and a few more on kubrick. initially he thought that i was a mean kid, but dana told him otherwise, and now we are pretty good friends. he calls me young matt, cause the managers name is matt and the guy hates him for some reason.

im a fully qualified customer service representative now (csr), wise in all ways of the register. i just finished working 5 days in a row, and that sucked. so ill quit talking about work.

i went home for a minute on saturday to go to my grandmas bday party at my house. it was nice to see all my cousins, it had been a while. i picked up my new phone. its half the size and seems to be working well. its a flip phone so no longer will i be constantly calling people on accident (i know you are upset about that sean).

i guess one thing worth mentioning about the past week was maruszak's concert on friday night. em press (www.em-press.com) put on a cd release show for john couldry and the benefit. opening for the band was poet regie gibson, and hamell on trial. harrel and frank came out for the show too, and we all got to witness hamell rock about as much as one man possibly can. it was a sweet show, only brought down by how mediocre/bad the headliners were. but hamell was the truth, and he made driving back to evanston at 3 in the morning worth it. harrel, frank, and i each planned on getting a different one of his three albums, but we all ended up buying the live one instead. after chilling with maruszak for a while, we went to the melrose restaurant at like 2, only to find that it was too expensive. so we went to steak and shake and paid about the same amount but had the peace of mind that we were in steak and shake together for the first time in a while. that was a good night, and thankfully i didnt fall asleep on the drive home. the next day i got up for work at 9 and toughed it out. like the blind mics say, "im rugged." or at least i looked that way cause i didnt shave. i should really finish the blind mic website...

how i spent my summer vacation part 2 (buffalo)

so i left sarah's and drove about 6 hours through new york to buffalo. the drive was pretty scenic, but the driving conditions were pretty bad because it rained the whole time. so i had to focus on the road. when i got to my uncle's house, they had just finished eating dinner. my grandparents just got there from chicago a few hours earlier. it was nice to hang out with my cousins. all the cousins i have around here are a few years younger than me, so i never really got to hang out with my cousins as friends/peers.

i met my cousins dog, marty. marty was a little chihuahua with an attitude. i was told he had an 'inner circle' of people that he liked. all the dog did was walk up to me and growl at me and walk away. he did this a couple more times throughout the night. everyone knew marty was a jerk, but i think people loved him because he was such a jerk. since marty didnt like people that much, no one knew what was going to happen to him while the graduation party was going on the next day....

the next day we woke up and sometime in the afternoon, someone noticed that marty was gone. no one could find him, and no one knew where he was. when asked, my aunt said she had 'taken care of it,' and told us not to worry about marty. at first, no one did worry about it. we went to graduation, came back, ate dinner, played scrabble, etc. but still no marty. my cousins started to get worried that maybe marty really was 'taken care of' and was never coming back. as it turns out, marty died that day. he had attacked a few people, and my aunt figured that since he was no longer a nice dog, and since it seemed that most of the family hated him, that his time was up. no one took it very well, since no one was warned or asked or even told about it after it happened. crazy shit.

i saw fahrenheit 9/11 when i was out there. i thought it was good, but i wish that moore would have made it a little more accessible to people of other viewpoints. bowling for columbine was very convincing, but this one comes off as much more sujective which just opens itself up to that much more conservative backlash (some of which i heard today on the radio while shaving my head. i really wanted to call in because some dumb lady took michael moores words as the word of god and was poorly supporting herself, and the host was just being ridiculous, i.e. saying that moore is just a self centered, narcissistic, piece of pie scum. pie scum? yes, pie scum. i dont even know what that is, but i wanted to call in and help explain some things, but, you know, i was busy shaving my head.) anyways, the movie was good. people laughed at bush a lot and clapped at the end.

i left buffalo on sunday around noon, and drove bye myself for 9 hours until i got home. i probably stopped on the way home for a total of a half hour (and most of that time was spent pumping gas.) i was just in a zone, and kept driving and driving and driving. it was pretty boring, especially in comparison to the trip out there. somehow though, even with driving through so long and throughout all the afternoon prime napping hours, i never felt tired. but i do now though, so im going to sleep.

(coming soon... what ive done in the week since then)
