its been a week. a lot has happened, i guess. adam and i went to buffalo joes to eat the other day and some interesting things happened. on the way there an old man asked us for some change, but i didnt have any to give him. so i said my regular 'sorry, man.' and then a few seconds later this other guy walked by us and started yelling at us for not giving the guy change. 'man, you cant give the man a quarter? whats with you kids...' that kind of pissed me off, i always give people my change. ah well. so then we were eating our wings outside of starbucks and this guy went to throw something away in the garbage can right in front of us. then the guy proceeded to take the lid off the garbage can and dig through the garbage for food. it was an awkward situation, not for adam though, he was too concentrated on his food to notice i guess. after we finished, a guy came up to us claiming he represented the evanstons childrens research fund or something like that. adam was waiting for me to say no thank you and i was waiting for adam to. so we listened to him talk for a little bit. i finally said 'no thank you,' and we started walking away. but the guy stopped us and said 'ok, just remember, remember that if you smile when you wake up in the morning, the whole world is brighter.' that kind of caught us offguard. i thought he was going to yell at us like the other guy. so we just started laughing. right after that, as we were walking back, adam and i witnessed a sidewalk standoff between a bunny and a squirrel, which was also very funny.
i went to the allstar game with my dad on tuesday. it was awesome. i dont usually like to watch baseball, but its good every once in a while. we were 5 rows from the top in the upper upper deck, but right behind home plate, so they were pretty good seats. it was a good game, but my favorite part was probably the national anthem. im not one for patriotic moments, but they had a flag the size of the outfield, and at the part when everyone is cheering before the song is over, six blue angels flew over the stadium, and then tons of fireworks went off. it rocked. besides that, the allstar game reminded me how many dumbasses have barbwire tatooed on their biceps.
today i met with marc smith, the father of slam poetry. i had a meeting with him and mark eleveld (my sisters former english teacher/my advisor) at marc smiths house. it went really well and we cleared a lot of business problems up that existed between me and the factions of poetry slam, inc. so the project is moving along as i increase my email output level to its limits. other than that work, ive been chillin at the beach and playin socom. which is fun, but also kind of depressing, so ricardo and i just worked out our plan to run in the mornings starting monday. hopefully that is more successful than this blog.
harrel is supposed to come up here tomorrow to lay down what will probably be the last track of the new album. i re-recorded attacking the lame, recorded a new song, and recorded a few filler tracks in the last week. assuming everything goes well tomorrow, im guessing the new album may be done as early as one week from now. there will be a website to coincide with the release, that will have a sample mix, lyrics, reviews, and info on how to get yours. looks like its going to be called: MPC Tournament Edition - Inspired by Mediocrity. It's been a long time coming, way too long. i'm debating whether to put all the old Shorewood Sessions tracks on the cd as well. i dont know, both albums would fit on one cd, but i think i'll just keep the new album separate, mostly because i want people to forget about the old stuff (not that this stuff is much better (but it is)).
time to get back to work.
peace.
